About  Othonia

Othonia is an international association whose objective is to contribute to the preservation, promotion, and dissemination of knowledge related to the Shroud of Turin to all peoples and cultures of the world in order to promote its knowledge for future generations.
Its main objective is to manage and foster scientific, cultural, historical, religious and charitable initiatives related to the Shroud of Turin in a spirit of openness, sharing, and dialogue.

OTHONIA

Othonia is a research center whose objective is to contribute to the preservation, promotion and dissemination of knowledge of the Shroud. The Center is part of the Science and Faith Institute, within the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical Athenaeum.

Othonia promotes interdisciplinary research, the study and the spreadof the Shroud in order to promote the conservation, improvement and development of information about the Shroud.

​

It also promotes and supports, with active participation and a spirit of dialogue, those scientific, cultural, historical, religious and pastoral initiatives related to the Holy Shroud.

​

Othonia cooperates with other institutions involved in promoting the Shroud and especially with the institutions of the International Network of Universities of the Legion of Christ and the Regnum Christi Movement.

Othonia promotes research by organizing conferences, congresses, symposiums, seminars, study groups, round tables, open forums for debates and discussions on the individual and comparative study of the images and relics of the Lord';s passion.

In addition, it has a documentary collection on the Holy Shroud in the Pius XII Library of the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical Athenaeum (https://www.upra.org/ricerca/biblioteca-pio-xii/), in addition to a virtual collection of documentation, photographic and audiovisual material.

Othonia has a Scientific Research Committee that has experts in Sacred Scripture, Theology, Biology, Medicine, photography, physics, among other areas.
